Ballyhass Lakes

Cecil Town, Mallow, County Cork

I was privileged to be one of the first tourists to fish at the Ballyhass Lakes in June 2000. Two superb lakes stocked with Rainbow Trout as big as Salmon. The lakes have deep clear water and are fed by springs through limestone rocks. There is a plentiful supply of natural feed that helps to produce healthy, active trout.

Fishing is from bank or by boat.

The main lake is 12 acres, the upper lake is 2½ acres

Facilities include ample car parking

Rod hire, toilets, Barbecue areas and rain shelters.

The lakes have been stock for over five years, but have only been fished lightly.
There are some very big Rainbow Trout in these lakes along with some Brown Trout.
The main lake is fly only, while the upper lake is for spinning and fly.

The hire of boats include new 15ft lake boats, very suitable for 2 to 3 anglers

The lakes are managed by Davy Donovan from Shanballymore, who is a well known trout fisherman, who has represented Ireland in many competitions, and is council member of the Munster Trout Angling Association. His advice and tuition is available to all visiting anglers.
